I felt I should say a few words about someone the Bay Area comic community has lost recently. Rory Root, owner of Comic Relief in Berkeley, has passed away recently. He was a big name in comics, and a good friend to many local artists and other creative types. On a personal note, it was his shop, Comic Relief, best darn comic shop in the San Francisco Bay Area, that got me interested in comics. He was quite a character, and I'm glad to have known him. He will be sorely missed.

Very sad indeed. Rory will be missed by many.

All over the web are tributes and memory's.

Thats terrible! I sorry to hear that! I read the memorial and it sounds like the Art and ComicBook world lost one of the greats.

At least there will always be appart of him living on in people like you Jeff who he has imspired or touched in some way during his lifetime

They all drink lemonaaaaaaaaade.... The end!
Even sadder is I had no idea who he was before this, but he seems like a great man. But I think he touched a lot of people and through that his legacy will live on in some way. :salute:

The bell that rings inside your mind is challenging the doors of time...
Gonna miss Rory. Funny guy, supporter of what he loved. And scared the hell out of other retailers when he started his feeding frenzy at the end of a show. Heaven's gonna get a hell of a comics store.

Shame. Now, many of us will have the honour to follow in his footsteps and make the greatest comics that are to be.

We salute you, Rory Root!

Yes, it's a great loss.

Should there be a sequel to "The Dastardly Collection"?
