Remember when I posted about that temp assignment that led me to a Safeway and confusion? Well, after that debacle, at least my agency would still give me work. And my latest assignment was apparently with the same company. Only this time, the confirmation E-mail actually told me the company name, and a name and phone number for the contact. It seems I wouldn't be working for Safeway, but for a company working with Safeway. Anyway, the shift again started at nine o'clock at night. The assignment was two nights, at two different locations, Wednesday and Thursday. The Wednesday night assignment was a long commute, near the Balboa Park BART Station. Anyway, the job was to change the racks of candy and gum by the checkstands. That involved taking new racks out of the stockroom, and transferring the products from the older racks. We had charts to tell us what went on which shelf, and in what order (like putting the M&Ms next to the Kit Kats, etc.) It was tedious, sure, but I've had worse. We finished that store about 1:15 AM. The company was then going to another Safeway in South San Francisco to do the same thing. (They're going to do this at every Safeway in Northern California.) They asked if I was going along, but I declined, as I couldn't be sure I could get a ride back to the city. Luckily I was able to get a bus back home that night. I worried that I'd have to take a cab. The Thursday night assignment went a bit better. It was in an area I was familiar with, the Marina District, so the commute was easier. and the job there went smoother too, as we wrapped up a bit before one o'clock. I might get called back to work at other stores in the coming weeks. I'll wait and see what happens.
